Virginia A. Sage, 79, of Cameron, IL, passed away at 4:49 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth, IL, surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 24, 1943 in Burlington, IA, the daughter of Woodrow Wheetley and Eva (Danforth) Wheetley.  She was raised and educated in the Kirkwood area and graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1961.

Virginia married Wayne D. Sage on May 28, 1961 in Monmouth, IL; he survives.  

She worked for General Telephone as an operator for 4 years.  She later worked at Monmouth Hospital for 18 years in medical records and as a receptionist. She was a member of the Red Hatters and the Cameron Christian Church.  Virginia was an avid reader.  Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Surviving Virginia is her husband, Wayne D. Sage of Cameron, IL; her children, Chris (Craig) Robertson of Adairsville, GA, Doug (Brenda) Sage of Oquawka, IL, Daniel (Sondra) Sage of Monmouth, IL; her grandchildren, Derek (Melissa) Robertson, Drew (Sarah) Robertson, Janae Robertson, Michael (Kim) Johnson, Justin Gutkowski, Amanda Sage, Chelsea Pieper, Kate Burk, Courtney (Rene) Sage, Devin Pieper, Brett Gutkowski, Hunter Curtis, Aidan Sage, Carter Sage; her great grandchildren, Callen Robertson, Tatum Robertson, Evan Robertson, Elliott Robertson, Hadley Bryan, Eleanor Robertson, Aubrey Pieper, Corbin Pieper, Ashton Pieper; two brothers, Woody Wheetley of Florida, Michael Wheetley of Savana, IL.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.     

She was preceded in death by her father and step mother, Woodrow and Florence Wheetley, her mother, Eva (Danforth) Wheetley; childhood guardian, Lucille (Lynch) Missavage; one daughter, Tamara Gutkowski; son-in-law, William Gutkowski; one brother, Eugene Wheetley; sister-in-law, Sue Wheetley; one great grandson, Silas Robertson.Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Cameron Christian Church, Cameron, IL.  Interment will be in Silent Home Cemetery, Cameron, IL.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Church.  Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
