Ellen Irene Basham

Ellen Irene Basham, 60, passed away on December 30, 2022. She was born May 23, 1962, to Gary and Iona Boone in Galesburg, Illinois.

She married Todd Basham, on January 16, 1982. Together they had two beautiful children, Tim Basham and Virginia Basham; and a granddaughter, Cheyenne, who was her pride and joy.

Ellen is also survived by her two brothers, Jon (and Crissy) Boone of Galesburg and Michael Boone of Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary and her sister, Crystal Boone.

Ellen attended the First Church of the Nazarene as a child, where she participated in church choir and various other church activities. Ellen graduated from Galesburg High School in 1980. After high school, she attended Olivet University for one year, and later enrolled at McMurry College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She and Todd attended the Dyess Base Chapel for years and they later became active members of Trinity Baptist Church in Abilene. Ellen and Todd made friends and loved their church family.

Ellen was employed at Temple Christian School in Perris, Texas for many years. She continued her education to become certified in California and was currently employed by Vacaville Unified School District. Ellen and her family lived in Vacaville until her death. She has served her community for over thirty-seven years as an elementary teacher and referred to her students as “her little hip huggers”. Ellen loved her family and friends from both sides of their families.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, March 17th. at 1:30pm at the Sacramento Veterans Memorial Cemetery just east of Vacaville. All are invited to honor Ellen there. Please contact McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville for further information. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
