Marlene R. Zimmerman, age 79 of Galesburg, Illinois died at 9:50 AM on Sunday, February 19, 2022 at Allure of Galesburg, Illinois.

Marlene was born on June 7, 1943 in Princeton, Illinois the daughter of Raymond and Esther (Bangtson) Philhower.  She attended and graduated from Buda High School.  She married Gary Zimmerman on July 11, 1970 in Knoxville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2003.

Surviving is one daughter: Crystal (Lester, Jr.) Johnson of St. Augustine, Illinois; one son: Kendall Zimmerman of Galesburg, Illinois; six grandchildren: Kyle R. (Cassandra) Johnson, Kody R. (Tricia) Johnson, Karisa L. (Brain Lock) Johnson, Ashley M. Zimmerman, Tyler A. Zimmerman, and Alexander J. Zimmerman; six great grandchildren: Owen Lock, Jentry Miller, Lucas Johnson, Kylin Lock, Ava Johnson and Dakota Johnson; one sister, Linda (Randy) Reiss of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Carol.

She worked in Knoxville for seven years and the former Loe’s Ben Franklin Drug Store and the Ron’s Red Fox; She worked for thirteen years and the former Swedoughs in Galesburg, Illinois. Member of the former Good News Baptist Church in rural Galesburg, Illinois.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family and can be sent to Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory at 120 South Public Square, Knoxville, Illinois.
