On Saturday, March 4th the Maple City Antique Tractor Association will host a toys and tractor show at the Monmouth American Legion, shares Club Member Curt Shimmin:
“From past years we have always been able to go to the Galesburg Mall and have a tractor show with the real tractors, but for the last several years we have not been able to find another place to do that. We came up with the idea of maybe it would be fun to get the toy tractors out that we collect and just have a show. There will not be any vendors. It will just be the club members showing off the tractors that they started farming with or that was their favorite tractor while they farmed and let you know some facts about them. If you have grandpas or uncles that were farmers back in a certain time period, then you can talk to the members about what tractors were popular back then in that time period and take a look at the model of that tractor.”
Members will be displaying model tractors, antique farm toys, and other toys of years gone by from 11 am to 2 pm. A hamburger fry lunch will also be available at the Legion during the time of the event.
