Christine L. (Bates) Gilbert, 52, of Galesburg, IL passed away at 5:36 pm, Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

Christine was born April 13, 1970 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of Jay E. & Marianne J. (Alstedt) Bates.  She was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1988. She later graduated from Carl Sandburg College in 1990.

Christine married Timothy Gilbert in Galesburg in November 2003.

Christine worked in retail her  whole career starting at Jacks, Shopko, Christopher & Banks and most recently she was the manager at Four Seasons in Galesburg  for the past 9 years.

She enjoyed baking cookies, going to concerts with her friends and visiting wineries with Laura.  She was an avid animal lover especially her faithful companion Skittles.

Survivors include her parents, Jay E. and Marianne J. Bates of Galesburg; her sister, Joyce (Todd) Link of Alexis; her brothers, John (Brandie) Bates of Ponder, TX and Patrick Bates of Galesburg; 2 nieces, Brianna Link of Washington, IA and Mia Bates of Ponder, TX; and her nephew, Jay W. Bates, (US Army) stationed at Ft. Drum, NY.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will take place at Alexis Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2023 at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to the Christine L.
