Solar Farm Moving into Closed Knox County Landfill

The Knox County Board has exercised the option to lease a portion of the Knox County Landfill for a solar project explains Knox County Area Partnership President Ken Springer:

“A company that is going to put solar panels on the closed landfill, which is generally land that doesn’t have a whole lot of productive economic use. In this case the county is going to make a little bit of money in the lease. The project will also pay some property taxes. They are expecting to get about $1.2 million in new property taxes divided over the next 25 years of this project.”
