The United high school varsity baseball team has started to pile up more scheduled conference games as we begin to get into the busy stretch of IHSA baseball season. Last Saturday, United split a doubleheader with Lincoln Trail opponent Mercer County, winning the first game 10-1, and dropping the second contest 9-2. The Red Storm picked up two more LTC division crossover games this week, falling to Princeville 4-3 on Tuesday before beating Stark County in a thrilling 13-10 back and forth affair on Thursday. United has had an up and down season overall, currently holding a 5-6 record through 11 games. Head Coach Ryan Molek says this trend has a lot to do with the youth of the team, and as the players get more experience in games this season, the Red Storm will be able to put together a more consistent stretch of games through the rest of April and May.
United’s busy conference stretch continues tonight with a single game at Knoxville and a single at Knoxville tomorrow morning. Normally, the LTC schedules doubleheaders to be played on Saturdays, but United high school is holding their Prom this Saturday night.
