Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 16, 2023:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is track and field seniors, Ethan Davis and Trevor Snyder. These two dominated the shot put and discus events at two highly competitive meets last week. Ethan was 1st in the shot put and 2nd in the discus at the Monmouth-Roseville Invitational. Trevor won both events at the Galesburg Silver Streak Invitational.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, Carter Rothzen. Carter had a fantastic week at the plate for the Red Storm. In four games, he went 7-for-14, with 11 rbis. Two of those seven hits were home runs, including a grand slam in a Lincoln Trail Conference win over Knoxville.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys track and field athlete, Kaiden Droste. Kaiden brought home a plethora of medals from two highly competetive meets last week. He was 1st in the 400 meter dash and 2nd in the long jump at the Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invitational. Kaiden brought home more hardward from the Burlington Invitational, crossing the finish line first in the 200 and 400 meter races and placing first in the long jump.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player, Annalisa Gibbons. In two non-conference games last week, Annalisa went 5-for-7 with two rbis and two runs scored. She is leading the Streaks in batting average and is tied for team lead in rbis and runs scored. Annalisa also has one of the two home runs that have been hit by Galesburg so far.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior softball player, Lexi Hunter. Lexi contributed mightily to two Tornado wins last week. In a victory over Stark County, she went 3-5 with 2 rbis and a home run. In another win over Stark County later in the week, Lexi pitched all seven shutout innings, giving up only three hits with 15 strikeouts.
