Carolyn L. East, age 80, of Illinois and Colorado; passed away at U C North Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Wednesday July 12, 2023. Carolyn was born in Missouri and was the daughter of Carroll and Thelma. Carolyn attended schools in Missouri and New Mexico. She then went on to receive her teachers certification after four years of college at Arkansas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Carolyn then married Charles East in Arkansas. Carolyn was a teacher for over 40 years and taught students in Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois from 1966 to 2006. Carolyn is survived by her son, Dennis East and his wife, Melanie, of Colorado. There is one granddaughter, Marisa East in Montana; and two grandsons, Alec East and his wife Judith in Montana; and Ty East in Kansas.  Carolyn also has two great grandsons, Nicholas and Theodore East. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother.

A funeral service and interment will be on Saturday July 22, 2023 at 10:30 am at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, Illinois. Interment is to be in the Oquawka Cemetery. Her family plans visitation and will receive their friends at Turnbull Funeral Home on Saturday July 22, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to her funeral service.
