Christian Cortez-Rogel, 22, of Monmouth, Illinois passed away at 4:46 am, Saturday, July 22, 2023 in Viola, IL.

Christian was born October 13, 2000 in Del Rio, TX the son of Jose Cortez and Reyna Rogel.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 2019.

Christian was currently served with the Illinois Army National Guard as a Specialist.

He was a mechanic at Brad Deery Honda in West Burlington. IA.

Christian enjoyed playing video games, wrestling in High School, playing soccer.  He absolutely loved working on cars, spending time with friends and family and was always with his girlfriend Maggie. 

Survivors include his parents, Jose and Reyna (Rogel) Cortez of Monmouth; his siblings, Araceli Lopez Cortez of Sioux City, NE, Nadia Guadalupe Castro of Chariton, IA,  Pablo Cortez of Muscatine, IA, Alberto Cortez of Beardstown, IL and Magali Cortez of Monmouth; one uncle, Mario Cortez and one aunt, Gabriela Cortez both of Chicago, IL numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth.  An additional funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 4, 2023 with a visitation prior to the services from 12:30-2:00 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Monmouth.    Memorials may be given to the Christian Cortez-Rogel Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
