Jerry D. Saline, age 75, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 4:10 P.M. on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on October 3, 1947 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Dean and Fern (Reed) Saline. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army from July of 1967 to February 1969. He married Teresa Clay in February of 1978 in East Galesburg, Illinois.

Surviving is daughter, Amanda Joy Clay-Copes (Cdr. J.A. Copes, USN, ret.) of Panama Beach, Florida; one sister, Barbara Heimer of Knoxville, Illinois; sister-in-law, Terrie Saline of Galesburg, Illinois; brother-in-law, Jerry Fordyce of Abingdon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice and brother Harold.

After his service in the army, he returned home and farmed with his father, then worked for the City of Knoxville Sewer Department, then Hillier Construction, Laverdiere Construction, then finally retiring from Midwest Crane. After Jerry retired he did snowplowing and garden tilling in Knoxville.

Public Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois with military rites conducted by the Knox County Honor Guard. Celebration of life will be held from 12:00 noon to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Harry Philblad American Legion in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to St. Judes.
