Gary D. Gaskill, 70, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 4:50 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on September 1, 1952 in Monmouth, IL, the son of George and Betty (Nelson) Gaskill.  Gary graduated from Warren High School in 1970.  He married Thrina Boone on April 8, 1971; she preceded him in death on February 20, 2009.  Gary later married Joli Chamberland-Boone on November 12, 2011. 

Gary was an avid outdoorsman that loved to golf, hunt, fish, woodworking, and riding his motorcycle.  He was a loving father and grandfather who spent his free time coaching and being their biggest fan. 

Gary started farming at the age of 15.  He was President of the Soil & Water Conservation for 18 years.  He also sold seed for many years, starting in 1988.  Gary partially retired from farming this last year.

Surviving Gary is his wife, Joli Gaskill; his children, Trevor (Vera) Gaskill and their children, Emily & Sam; Andrea (Randy) Trego and their children, Addyson & Leighton; Joseph (Halley) Boone & children; Jordan (Alison) Boone & children; Justin (Mya) Boone; and Jared (Tera) Boone and daughter.  Also surviving are his sisters, Sharon (Vince) Raymond and Janet Gaskill Oliphant; several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thrina Gaskill; one son, Tyler Gaskill; and his nephews, Tommy Raymond & Ryan Bennett. 

A celebration of life will be at 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 21, 2023 at the Monmouth American Legion (1110 North 11th St., Monmouth, IL).  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to the Gary D.
