Glenn W. “Red” Moyers, age 77, of rural Stronghurst, Illinois, formerly of Oquawka, Illinois, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his home. 

He was born December 9, 1945 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Robert and Myrtle (Terry) Moyers.  He first married Twila Grisham.  They later divorced.  On October 28, 1979, he married Mary Dvorak.  She preceded him in death on March 22, 2005.  On December 24, 2015, he married Christina Straight.  She preceded him in death on January 17, 2019.

Glenn grew up in the Gulfport and Hopper area.  He was employed at Wilsons Meat Packing Plant in Monmouth for 19 years, then worked until his retirement at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. He also was an avid fisherman for many years. He enjoyed sharing his harvest at local fish fries, family events and especially the Gulfport Fish Fry.  

Glenn portrayed Santa Claus for his family and several area communities for many years.  He enjoyed bowling, bingo, wrestling, slow pitch softball, stock car racing, hunting, and singing karaoke, especially Keith Whitley songs.  He loved playing cards with his close group of friends.

Survivors include five children: Corey (Rebecca) Moyers and Joanna (Jack) Scott, both of Lomax, IL, Steven Moyers of Dallas City, Jim (Kathy) Wiegand of Oquawka, IL, Jason (Jennifer) Johnson of Tennessee, one step daughter: Doveann Calovi of Washington, numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren,  one brother: Marty, one sister: Cathy and a special roommate and nephew: Tic Brockett. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, one son: Brian Brobston, five brothers: Chuck, Harv, Robert, Harry and Bill, three sisters: Ruby, Ethel and Mary and two special nephews: Marv and Jerimy Brockett.

Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home is Dallas City, with funeral services immediately following. 

Cremation will be entrusted to Banks & Beals following the service.
