With the summer months here, the door-to-door salesmen are out and about, and Monmouth Police Department Investigator Josh Kramer says to not allow any of them inside your house:
“The old one was vacuum scams. Unfortunately, they still use it. They want to show you how great it is. While they are showing their demonstration, usually somebody is in the back of your house ransacking through your door. For any type of door-to-door sales, don’t allow them inside. If it is a construction, get a card, get some sort of information from them, and do a little research on who they are. After they leave, always call either City Hall in Monmouth or the Police Department. People like that are required to have a license to solicit in the city.”
As for online scams to be on the lookout for, Investigator Kramer states that “Puppies for Sale” posts on social media outlets have grown in popularity among scammers to try and get any form of payment quickly.
