Robert Henry McAllister, 82, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 7:28 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Allure of Knox County, Galesburg, Illinois.

Bob was born June 24, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the son of Harry S. and Nellie (Black) McAllister. After graduating from Hamilton, Iowa High School, Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, honorably serving for six years, and was discharged on May 21, 1965. He went on to a 30 year career as a driver for Coca-Cola. He later worked for Vista Bakery in Burlington, Iowa where he eventually retired.

Bob was an active member of New Life Baptist Church in Galesburg, where he maintained the lawn for 15 years and took great pride in keeping the yard looking sharp. He also drove the church van for 10 years.

Bob is survived by his children, James McAllister of Michigan, Angela (Jim) Blevins of LaVergne, Tennessee, and Laura McAllister of Michigan; and two grandchildren, Jacob Mackie and Tammie Logsdon. Bob is also survived by one brother, Tom McAllister of Gulfport, Illinois; and two sisters, Elizabeth (George) Long of Fort Madison, Iowa and Teresa McAllister of Elvaston, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at New Life Baptist Church, Galesburg. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darrell Grimm officiating. Private burial of cremated remains will be next to his folks at Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Iowa. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Baptist Church parking lot paving project. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
