Scots Golf Teams Compete at Midwest Region Classic

The Monmouth College golf teams played in the loaded two-day Midwest Region Classic in Kansasville, Wisconsin this weekend. The men’s team finished 38th out of 40 teams while the women were 30th out of 33 teams. .

On the men’s side, Briggs Bossert (Evanston, Illinois) shot a 79 on Friday and an 82 on Saturday for a 161 total. He had the best Monmouth men’s finish in 130th place. Carter Wilson (Washington, Illinois) finished in 182nd with an 82-91-173, the same as Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) who shot 87-86-173. Grant Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) shot 94-87-181 to and Gordon Kiesgen (Spring Grove, Illinois) shot 94-96-190.

The Scots shot 342 as a team on Friday and sat in 37th after the first round. They shot and 346 on Saturday for a two-round total of 688.

On the women’s side, Amanda Stevens (Mason City, Illinois) shot a 90 on Friday and a 91 on Saturday for a 181 total and a 126th place finish. Sarah Saddoris (Port Byron, Illinois) finished 176th with a 106-109-215 while Audrey Waller (Pekin, Illinois) shot 107-119-226. Annalyn Lovell (Oneida, Illinois) shot 111-116-227 and Lexie Campbell (Earlville, Illinois) shot 124-109-233.

The women shot a team score of 414 on Friday to sit in 30th place. They shot 415 on Saturday for a team total of 839.

The women are next in action at the season-ending SLIAC Championships Oct. 8-10. The conference championship is a 3-day event at Metamora Fields Golf Course in Metamora, Illinois.

The men will finish their fall season Oct. 2-3 with the Central Fall Classic in Iowa City, Iowa.
