Two Monmouth Little Lions League tournament championships were claimed on Monday at Harmon Park in Monmouth. In the first game of the night, Edward Jones Financial defeated Kehoe Eye Care 9-4 to win the minor league title. Gaige Waymouth went 2-2 with a double and four rbis for Edward Jones, who were also the regular season champs, as well.
In the second game of the night, Midwest Bank capped off the season by beating Stanton Insurance 12-3. Midwest Bank put the game away early by scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised from there. Kamarea Rudolph had an inside the park home run and a ground-rule double in the long inning for Midwest. Rudolph also was a force on the mound, getting five strikeouts. Tucker Judge also threw an inning, getting all three outs by way of strikeout. Midwest Bank catcher Oscar Wilde threw out three Stanton Insurance runners trying to score on wild pitches. By the end of the game, all ten players on Midwest Bank either scored a run or drove in a run, making it a truly team-win. Midwest Bank also won the regular season title.
Congratulations to all the teams in the Monmouth Little Lions League on a great season of baseball at Harmon Park. The end-of-the-season awards picnic is scheduled for Wednesday night at Harmon Park starting at 6:00.
