Story by Kadin Rogers

The Abingdon-Avon High School football team got their first win of the 2023 season this past Friday night, taking down the United Red Storm 42-22 on United’s homecoming. The win for the Tornadoes brings their record to 1-5 both overall, and in Lincolnland-Small School Division play. Tornadoes Head Coach Rick Quinn appeared on the WRAM Morning Show on Tuesday. Quinn says that his team is gonna do everything in its power to try to get to win number two this week as they try to stay focused on the ultimate goal of winning as many games as possible.

With five losses on the season, A-Town is eliminated from IHSA playoff contention, but can still garner future momentum as they try to build their young program. The Tornado’s homecoming game on Friday against the winless Havana Ducks will kick-off at 7:00 from Abingdon-Avon High School in Abingdon.
