Eagle View’s Outreach and Enrollment Nancy Kucharz Comments on Medicaid Eligibility and Redetermination

Share

Illinois is one of the states offering Medicaid expansion to those aged 19 to 64, turning 65, that are eligible for Medicaid services. While being enrolled on Medicaid is dependent on income, Eagle View Community Health System with Outreach and Enrollment Nancy Kucharz shares individuals are still able to work:

“The positive with this is people believe that to be on Medicaid you can’t work and that is not true. An individual can make close to $1,500 gross a month, which is not a lot, but still they can work. Especially for young people that may be starting out, a Medicaid card might be a nice bridge to when they might have employer insurance, afford their own private insurance, or go to the Marketplace.”

As Medicaid does not automatically renew, those on Medicaid must submit a redetermination review yearly to ensure they still qualify for assistance.
