The Annual Veteran’s Day program at the Monmouth American Legion will begin at 10 am Saturday, November 11th with four selections of music by the Monmouth College Marching Band, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, an opening prayer, readings, Keynote Speaker Lance Zedric, and ending at 11 am with the Firing Squad. Commander of the Marion B Fletcher Post 136 Martin Edwards, shares the significance of Veteran’s Day:
“Veteran’s Day is there to honor all Veterans regardless of where you served or what branch you were in. It is a day to recognize the fact that these people made that sacrifice to leave home and go out and serve their country, some for a career, some for a short term. Nonetheless, this group of individuals, whether they were drafted during the Vietnam War era or the volunteer course that came about in the mid 1970s, were all there as one group. I think it is fitting to pay homage if you will to the people just to say thank you for what you have done.”
The local Veteran’s Day program will also be broadcast on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM and online at radiomonmouth.com.
