Several area high school girls basketball teams will be at Abingdon-Avon High School Saturday, as the Lady Tornadoes will host the 2023 MC Sport & More/Advanced Rehab Girls Basketball Shootout. Kicking off the busy schedule will be a match up between Orion and Bushnell Prairie City at 9:00. North Fulton and the Erie-Prophetstown Lady Panthers will do battle at 10:30, followed by Knoxville taking on Roanoke-Benson at noon. In the afternoon slate, the (5-2) Sherrard Lady Tigers face off with (7-2) Aurora Central Catholic at 1:30. The Monmouth-Roseville Lady Titans will make an appearance at the shootout, playing Hardin Calhoun at 3:00. Macomb’s girls will play Morton at 4:30. It’s a battle of two high quality teams at 6:00, as (8-1) Peoria Notre Dame plays against undefeated (5-0) Camp Point Central/Southeastern. Ending the full day of basketball, the host Lady Tornadoes play Evergreen Park out of the Chicago-land area at 7:30.

Athletic Director at A-Town Reid Kelso put together the schedule for the first Abingdon-Avon Girls Shootout, speaking on the WRAM Morning Show this morning, Kelso says this shootout is a good opportunity for every team to play a school that they would likely not see throughout the regular season.

We will have 3 of the 8 games from the A-Town girls’ shootout on the Prairie Communications Sports Network. Monmouth-Roseville vs Hardin Calhoun at 3:00 and Macomb vs Morton at 4:30 will be broadcast live on AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM, then the nightcap of Abingdon Avon vs Evergreen Park at 7:30 will also come through live on WRAM as well as online at Radiomonmouth.com.
