John J. Guanci, Jr., 83, of Woodstock passed away Sunday, January 21, 2024 at JourneyCare in Barrington. He was born September 2, 1940 in Chicago, the son of John and Marilyn Stapati Guanci.
A resident of the Woodstock area for 57 years, John was a local businessman and owner of Precision Quincy Corporation, a manufacturing interest, in Woodstock, before retiring in 2013.
John was a veteran serving in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961, specifically the 82nd Airborne as well the 7th Special Forces as a Green Beret. He earned his jungle warfare patch in Panama, his cold weather warfare patch in Alaska, and served in Laos as a radio operator and technical advisor before official U.S. involvement in S.E. Asia.
He was a member of the Crystal Lake Christian Church after accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior being baptized on September 13, 2015.
Surviving are his wife, Susan A. Guanci whom he married on August 14, 1965; son, John (Stacy) Guanci, III; and four grandchildren, Amelia, Hannah, Kaitlyn and Adam.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant twin daughters.
The family will receive friends from Noon until 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, followed by a graveside service, with Military Honors, at 2:00 pm. at the Carman Cemetery, Carman, Illinois
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Veterans Path to Hope which is a charity that works with U.S. Military Veterans.
