On 02/21/2024, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Boating Accident on the West side of Green Oaks Lake in Victoria where two subjects fell out of a boat into the water.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office immediately deployed the KCSO Water Rescue Team. A responding Knox County Deputy was able to locate and safely recover both individuals that were not able to make it to the bank by their vehicle due to the amount of ice that was still intact.

Both individuals were evaluated by GHAS with no injuries reported. The boat was recovered and returned to the bank by the KCSO Water Rescue Team.

A special thank you to the Illinois DNR, GHAS, Oak Run Fire and Rescue, Victoria Fire and Rescue, and Oneida Fire and Rescue for their assistance in recovering the individuals and their boat.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind you to always wear a life vest while out on the water.
