The Illinois State Capitol was placed on lockdown after a threat was made Tuesday afternoon. Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias posted on X, formerly Twitter, that his office received notice of a threat involving the Capitol. Out of an abundance of caution, Giannoulias said the Secretary of State Police issued a lockdown and conducted a sweep of the building. The all-clear was given around 3 p.m.
