While enroute to the incident, the dispatch center relayed information indicating the home was fully involved with fire. Assistant Chief Cozadd called for a “working still” requesting off-duty firefighters and an ambulance. Ladder 40, Engine 23, and Unit 505 arrived on scene and found a mobile home with heavy fire showing from both sides of the residence. Firefighters utilized two 1 ¾“ attack lines to suppress the fire from the outside before making entry into the home and extinguish any remaining hotspots. There were no injuries, but one resident was displaced due the home being a total loss and is being assisted by the Red Cross and 1-800-BOARDUP.

Monmouth Fire Department Investigators found the cause of the fire related to cooking and have determined it to be accidental. Other agencies who assisted at the scene were the Monmouth Police Department and Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Service. MFD cleared from the scene at 2:19 PM.
