New Parking Lot in the Works for South 1st Street

Share

The City of Monmouth will be entering a Professional Services Agreement with Hutchison Engineering in creating a parking lot in the vacant lot near Market Alley on South 1st Street. City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher has more:

“The City is retaining their services in the amount of $25,000. $16,000 of it is to design a new parking lot and $9,000 of it is to do some construction inspection once the project is under construction. We have been working with the businesses along Market Alley in talking about the City owned vacant lot off of South 1st Street in proving some off street parking in that area. The entrance would be off of South 1st and then the exit coming out the alleyway onto East 1st Avenue. We recently received a $50,000 contribution from a local foundation that really has enabled us to move forward with this project.”

Total cost of the parking lot is anticipated to be $75,000.
