Acquisition of New Property on South Main Allows Room for New Programming with Jamieson Community Center

Through funding from the Pattee Foundation, Jamieson Community Center has purchased 1120 South Main, the location of Dollar General and former Tom and Linda’s grocery store. Executive Director Nancy Mowen informs the site will be the new location of the Marketplace and will also allow space for new programming:

“We are moving our Marketplace and our Marketplace consists of our thrift store and our food pantry. We will be moving that there and we have some extra space in that building and we are going to put in an office and hopefully a Resource Coordinator. I am still working on consolidating all that funding and getting all of that together, but I have some good, strong commitments and so I am very optimistic that will happen. That resource person will help connect people to resources in the community, not just at Jamieson Community Center and will be able to sit down with them one on one and talk about goals and maybe do some life skills assessments with people.”

With the acquisition of the property, Jamieson Community Center will earn non-traditional income from Dollar General, which Director Mowen reports will help offset operating costs of an additional property.
