Grilling Tips to Keep in Mind This Summer

Share

Summertime grilling is in full swing. It is important to keep safety in mind just as you would while cooking in the kitchen; make sure to keep the grill away from the house, garage, or any flammable items, and make sure you clean the grill often to avoid grease fires. Additionally, it is just as important to pay close attention once the grilling is complete, informs Monmouth Firefighter Dan Chard:

“When you are done grilling, be mindful when things cool off a little bit, go ahead and shut that valve of the tank off on a gas grill. Obviously, charcoal just keep your eye on it an dlet the coals cool off and everything, wheel it off to a safe place, but turn that gas valve off on those gas grills because if for some particular reason one of those knobs gets turned, then you have free flowing gas and bad things can happen.”

Never leave your grill unattended while it is in use and keep children and pets away from the grilling area.
