V. Maye Rader, age 92, of Dunlap, Illinois, formerly of Monmouth, passed away at 6:13 AM on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at OSF Transitional Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. She was born September 20, 1931 in Willow Springs, Missouri, the daughter of Riley and Viva (Murrell) Hawkins. Maye was raised in Willow Springs and was a graduate of Willow Springs High School. on June 15, 1957, she married Wayne E. Rader in Monmouth, Illinois and he preceded her in death on March 15, 2016.

Maye began work in Monmouth as a nurses aid at Monmouth Hospital. For many years, she worked in the Office of Dr. Ratnakar and Dr. Arora until her retirement. Maye’s work in the medical field showed her compassion for people. She was an amazing cook, liked flowers, gardening, plants, was a voracious reader, and crossword puzzles. Mostly, she loved her family and her grandchildren.

Maye is survived by two daughters; Pamela (Bac) Pham of Dunlap, Illinois and Theresa Anderson of Scottsburg, Indiana, one son; Stephen (Patricia) Rader of Falls Church, Virginia, and four grandchildren; Vivian, Benjamin, George, and Sophia. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, and four brothers.

A graveside service for Maye Rader will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Monmouth Cemetery. Her family plans visitation at Turnbull Funeral Home, Monmouth, from 9:30-10:45 prior to the service. Memorial may be left to the American Cancer Society.
