SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR THE 53rd ANNUAL NATIONAL STEARMAN FLY-IN
all events held in the International Stearman Community Center at the Galesburg Municipal Airport unless otherwise noted

*Monday, September 2, 2024
7-11 a.m.: Hog Capital of the World Days fly-in breakfast, Kewanee
Municipal Airport, Kewanee, IL. All you can eat pancakes & sausage.
Hosted by the Kewanee Community Volunteer Fire Department.
Price $
9 a.m.: Daily pilot briefing and Labor Day Parade fly-over briefing.
10 a.m.: Galesburg Labor Day Parade fly-over.
11:30 a.m.: Seminar, “Fly-In Contest Review” presented by Tye
Hammerle
3 p.m.: Seminar, “An Introduction to Air Corps” presented by Air
Corps Aviation.
5:30 p.m.: Beverage wagon opens.
6-7 p.m.: Welcome Picnic for Fly-In participants. Menu: Fried
chicken, macaroni salad, coleslaw and green beans catered by Pizza
Ranch, Galesburg IL. Free for Stearman Fly-In participants.

*Tuesday, September 3, 2024
9 a.m.: Daily pilot briefing.
10 a.m.: Seminar, “Q & A with the Federal Air Surgeon” presented
by Dr. Susan Northrup.
10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Tri-County Airport (2C6) Open House. Historic grass
strip 19nm southeast of KGBG. Refreshments provided for Stearman
participants. Elvis will be performing from Noon – 3:00 p.m. Hosted by
Dave & Cathy Shipley.
2 p.m.: Seminar, “Stearman Parts” presented by Dave Groh of
Yesteryear Aviation.
Evening: Dine out in Galesburg. Patton Block Grill & Brew Pub in
Monmouth has reserved a section for Stearman Fly-In participants.

*Wednesday, September 4, 2024
9 a.m.: Daily pilot briefing.
9:30 a.m.: Seminar, “Stearman Q & A” presented by Bob Swint and
John Mohr.
11 a.m.: Lunch fly-out to Kewanee Municipal Airport (EZI),
Kewanee, IL. Menu: To Be Determined catered by Eilers Catering.
Price $. Sponsored by Kewanee Chamber of Commerce and
Kewanee Airport Authority.
4 p.m.: Pilot briefing for Monmouth Prime Beef Festival Parade
fly-over.
5 p.m.: Monmouth Prime Beef Festival Parade fly-over.
6 p.m.: Beverage wagon opens.
6:30 – 7:30 p.m.: Pizza Party for Stearman Fly-In Participants.
Menu: Variety of dinner pizzas, salad bar and dessert pizzas catered
by Pizza Ranch, Galesburg, IL. Free for Stearman Fly-In participants.

7:30 p.m.: Gone West! Remembering those in the Stearman
community who have passed during the last year.
7:35 p.m.: Stearman Foundation Endowment.
7:45 p.m.: Program: “Around the World” presented by John
Ockenfels and Peter Teahen.

2 p.m.: Stearman aerobatic contest, Gen-Air Park, Geneseo.

3:30 p.m.: Seminar, “Choosing the Right Covering System for Your

9:30 a.m.: Stearman Restorers Association Annual Meeting.
10 a.m. (time approximate): National Stearman Fly-In “Class
of 2024” group photo. Location to be determined depending on
weather.
10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.: Picnic fly-out to IL01 Abingdon, IL. Lunch
provided for Fly-In participants.
2:30 p.m.: Briefing for short field take-off, flour bombing and spot
landing contests.
3 p.m.: Short field take-off, flour bombing and spot landing contests. Sponsored by Heritage Biplane, Ltd. — Robert Preston.
6 p.m.: Beverage wagon opens.
7-8 p.m.: Dinner. Menu: Charcuterie grazing table, lasagna
(including a vegetarian version), side salad, garlic bread, catered by
Innkeepers Coffee & Catering, Galesburg IL. Tickets: $25
8 p.m.: Program: “Museum of the Forgotten Warrior” presented
by John “Skipper” Hyle.

COMMUNITY DAY
6:35 a.m.: Dawn Patrol launch for Galesburg Municipal Airport
(KGBG), Galesburg, IL
7-11 a.m.: Dawn Patrol Flight Breakfast at Galesburg, IL, All-youcan-eat breakfast served by the Galesburg Noon Lions Club. Menu:
Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, milk, orange juice. Price:
Adults $10, children 12 and under $7.
10 a.m.-Noon: Children’s Activities.
1:30 p.m.: Formation Flying contest briefing.
2 p.m.: Formation flying contest.
6 p.m.: Beverage wagon opens.
7 p.m.: National Stearman Fly-In Annual Banquet & Awards
Presentation; serving until 8 p.m. Menu: Carved prime rib, parmesan
crusted chicken, holiday potatoes, fruit salad, pasta salad, green
beans, dinner rolls, butter catered by Patton Block Grill & Brew Pub,
Monmouth, IL. Tickets $35.
7:45 p.m.: Tribute to Bob Harrison presented by Jeanne Conlon.
8-9 p.m.: Silent Auction – official Fly-In banners and memorabilia.
