Mr. John H. Campbell, 79, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away Tuesday morning, September 3, 2024, with his family by his side.

John was born October 20, 1944, in Galesburg, the son of Glenn H. and Pauline B. (Riggs) Campbell. He married the love of his life, Nikki Standard on February 3, 1968, in Galesburg.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years, Nikki; his son, John Michael Campbell of Oquawka, Illinois; his daughter, Angela (Tim) Eagle of Knoxville, Illinois; his sister, Carol (Doug) McGrew of Scottsdale, Arizona; four grandchildren, Trevor (Melissa) Campbell of Savannah, Georgia, Breanna Campbell of Gladstone, Illinois, Emma Campbell of Carman, Illinois and Elijah Campbell of Carman, Illinois and one great grandson, Anikyn Banks. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sally Kern, Betty Blixt and Phyllis Zeigler.

John graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962 and later was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corp earning the rank of Corporal. He served his country from 1965-1967, spending thirteen months in Vietnam as a truck driver for FLC trucking company. John was extremely proud to be a Marine and a member of the NRA.

John worked for Butler Manufacturing and retired after thirty-eight years. He also worked as the maintenance person for First Baptist Church for eight years. John was a member of VFW Post #2257 and was very involved with their car cruise, bingo activities and served on the military honor guard. He loved attending his military reunions and catching up with old friends.

John and Nikki loved to travel and had enjoyed vacationing to California and Washington DC. He loved his family so much and enjoyed every moment he spent with them and his many friends. He really enjoyed his time fishing with his grandson, Elijah, and had passed on his love for music to his children, John and Angela. He had attended Bethel Baptist Church with his wife.

Visitation will be 10:00-Noon, Saturday September 7, 2024, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Services will begin at Noon at the chapel with Pastor Lee Johnson officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Knox County Honor Guard.
