The U.S. House passed U.S. Representatives Darin LaHood (R-IL-16), Rick Larsen (D-WA-02), Don Bacon (R-NE-02), and Kath Castor’s (D-FL-14) H.R. 7438, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act by a voice vote. The legislation, which was introduced by the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus, will aid World Cup legacy programs aimed at advancing youth engagement in soccer in disadvantaged and underserved communities.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be one of the largest sporting events in our history and will be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Hosting the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 16, 2026, and includes 104 matches in 16 unique cities, will bring generational opportunities to elevate soccer and build greater economic benefits in states, cities, and local communities throughout the country.
“It’s an exciting time for soccer in the United States, and the FIFA World Cup 2026 presents a generational opportunity for our country,” said Rep. LaHood. “The World Cup in 2026 will be one the largest sporting events in history, and this commemorative coin program will aid programs that support youth soccer and help underserved communities. The Soccer Caucus will continue our work to support preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026, and help elevate soccer in the United States.”

In 2018, the Congressional Soccer Caucus led a resolution that passed the House to support the United States’ bid to host the 2026 World Cup. The Congressional Soccer Caucus is a bipartisan member organization that works to support youth engagement in sports and promote soccer throughout the United States. The Caucus also provides a platform to Members of Congress to celebrate the sport and discuss important topics surrounding the planning for the World Cup in 2026.
