Harvest season is underway in west central Illinois and farmers have been happy with what they see. Local farmer Jhn Strickler says looking at yields, the 2024 crop has been a “nice refresher”.

“Even on our stuff, we’ve seen some really good corn. I’ve heard some guys throw out numbers that are just off the charts, and then I mean ours and some other guys have had average to above average yields- nothing to complain about, for sure,” says Strickler. “But it’s just how the weather came in, and there’s a lot of different variables that play into that.”

He adds on the bean side, yields have been more hit or miss due to disease pressure and planting date.
