M-R Titans Wrestling Take the Mat for First Time of the Season

The Monmouth-Roseville titans wrestling team traveled to Mercer county last night for the first meet of the year. It was a good test for the Titans team having a quad with all conference teams including Mercer County, Rockridge and Mendota. The titans started the night off verse Rockridge and picking up victories for the titans were at 120 pounds Landon Peterson by pinfall, 126 pounds John Mya by pinfall, 132 pounds Liam Spears by pinfall, 144 pounds Alejandro Morales by pinfall, 150 pounds Gybahni Mendoza Valverde by pinfall, 175 pounds Keegan Smith by pinfall, 190 pounds Alex Gandarilla by decision with a score 13-12 and at 285 pounds Sailas Cung by pinfall. Monmouth-Roseville defeated Rockride 45-27.

Next on the night Mercer County getting wins for the titans were 120 Landon Peterson by pinfall, 132 pounds Liam Spears by pinfall, 144 pounds Alejandro Morales by pinfall, 165 pounds Moises Martinez by pinfall and 285 pounds Sailas Cung by pinfall. The monmouth-roseville titans fell to Mercer county in a back and forth battle by a score of 47-30.

To finish the night Monmouth-roseville faced Mendota, Scoring victories for the titans were at 126 pounds John Mya by forfeit, 132 pounds Liam Spears by forfeit, 144 pounds Alejandro Morales by forfeit, 157 pounds Gybahni Mendoza Valverde by pinfall, 190 pounds Alex Gandarilla by forfeit and 285 pounds Sailas Cung by pinfall. The Titans defeated Mendota 41-24, starting their year off 2-1.

The titans will get back to work and take the mat again next Monday traveling to Orion for a triangular with Orion and Galesburg.
