Flock Safety Cameras to be Installed in Monmouth

Permits have been signed by the state of Illinois for the installation of Flock safety cameras within the city limits of Monmouth. Police Chief Joe Switzer explains how the automatic license plate readers will operate:

“The Flock safety cameras are automatic license plate reader cameras, and they will be capturing information when people come into town on various different avenues of approach into town. It will provide us with information on wanted people, suspects in crimes in different areas, suspended or revoked drivers’ licenses, suspended or revoked license plates; any information that we have available via the leads the state site that we run the license plates through will be available to us instantaneously as soon as that car passes that camera.”

Chief Switzer says the information obtained by the Flock safety cameras will be of use in post criminal incidents.
