Recharge Teen Center Resources Has Real World Application

Share

The Recharge Teen Center in Monmouth offers a variety of resources for area students with the help of volunteers and area partnerships. Amy Rogers, Recharge Teen Center Coordinator says they not only provide the students with a pantry, but with lessons on how to prepare food be best suit their needs.

“We have some really awesome volunteers in our community. For example, Bri Smith is what we call a guest chef. So she comes in, she owns Dem Cake Dough. She cooks once a month and does a lesson with kids, takes requests for what they want to learn how to make, ” says Rogers. “We just have a lot of fun teaching them some healthy alternatives, showing them something they can substitute if they have some caloric goals or if its bulking season- some ways they can add some extra protein. Just getting them to understand the relationship with food and that you can provide a meal that fits your needs even if you are on a budget.”
