Daniel F. “Danny” Snider Jr., 97, of East Galesburg, died at 5:13 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Knox County Nursing Home.

He was born August 6, 1927, in Kewanee, the son of Daniel F. and Maude (Betts) Snider Sr. He married Phyllis Hiatt in Detroit, Michigan. He later had a 30-year relationship with Sylvia I. Stanley. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2016.

He is survived by three children, Dan L. (Kathy) Snider of Alexis, Bill Snider of East Galesburg, and Vicki Johnson of Knoxville; three stepdaughters, Debra O’Hearn of Galesburg, Kelly (David) LaHood of Peoria, and Lora (Todd) Adkisson of Roseville; a sister, Mary Ovens of Rock Island; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to Sylvia, he was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Kera Kay Takacs; and three sisters, Eileen Weatherford, Florence Frye, and Betty Jean Snider.

Danny was a unit repairman at Maytag Corporation for 37 ½ years, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, boating on the Mississippi, and his pets. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Graveside services will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Brimfield at 1 p.m. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Safe Harbor Family Crisis Center or WIAR (Western Illinois Animal Rescue). Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
