Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 9, 2025:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is girls bowlers, junior Olivia Register and freshman Autumn Register. The sister-combo qualified for the IHSA sectional tournament in Decatur with their outstanding performance at the Morton regional. Olivia was the top scorer that was not on a qualifying team, rolling a fantastic 6-game score of 1198. Autumn was just short of the 1000 pin mark with a 991.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior boys basketball player, Ian Leffler. Ian scored 26 points in a Lincoln Trail Conference win over Stark County. He helped break open a close game by scoring an amazing 18 points in the 3rd quarter alone. Ian was also in double figures in another LTC win, garnering 12 points against ROWVA/Williamsfield.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Lauren Winters. Lauren has been heating up as the season winds down, especially on the offensive end. She averaged nearly double digit points in three games last week. Lauren nearly garnered a double-double against Ridgewood, scoring 9 points and pulling down 8 rebounds.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior boys swimmer, Carson Olson. Carson was named the MVP for the Western Big Six Conference season. In the conference championship meet, he nearly set two conference records while finishing in first place in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke events. Carson also was a part of two, 1st place relay teams.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior girls bowler, Emma Larkin. Emma and her Tornado teammates qualified for the sectional tournament with an outstanding regional meet. Emma’s 6-game score of 1006 at the Morton regional was second on the team. Earlier this season, Emma had her team’s top single-game score of 205 at the Abe Lincoln Invite.
