Steven R. “Steve” Franklin, 68, of Oquawka, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at his home.
Steve was born on February 28, 1957, in Yuma, AZ, the son of James R. and Frances M. (Dunmire) Franklin. He was raised and educated in Tucson, AZ.
Steve married Ingrid Molz on March 6, 1982, in Pueblo, CO.
He worked as a truck driver in the oil fields in Midland Texas, and retired in 2018 then moved to Illinois.
Steve had a heart for nature and adventure. He was known for his spontaneous road trips, often showing up on your doorstep without a notice because he was the surprise and always welcome. Wherever there was a roadside, he would make a campsite. He knew all the best spots in this country. Steve loved to fish in a stream, lake or river. He loved his family and friends with a passion like no other. He was truly one of a kind.
Surviving Steve are his children, Nicole Franklin of Oquawka, IL, Raquel Chandler of Johnstown, CO, Colleen (Lenny) Chandler of Littleton, CO, Rodney (Doreen) Chandler of Pueblo, CO; grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Joshua, Travis (Mikaila), Zachery (Lynette), Tony (Crystal), Darryl (Lizz); and brother, Jim (Mary) Franklin of Vail, AZ.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers, Raymond “Blue” Franklin, Jeff Franklin, and John Franklin.
