Mr. Ronald G. “Ron” Patterson, 89, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2024, at his home.
He was born April 1, 1936, in Galesburg to Lorenzo D. and Mary E. (Miller) Patterson. He married Margaret L. “Marge” Moody on June 16, 1957, in Galesburg.
Surviving is his wife of almost 68 years, Marge Patterson of Galesburg, a son, Tim (and Sally) Patterson of Galesburg, three sisters, Joanne (and Jack) Sloan of Matherville, Illinois, Marilyn Jarvis of Oquawka, Illinois, and Chris Hogan of Galesburg, two grandsons, Sam Patterson and Matt Patterson and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dick Patterson and Don Patterson, a sister, Shirlee Damewood, four brothers-in-law, Don Damewood, Rick Jarvis, Gene Moody, and Cecil “Bud” Davis, four sisters-in-law, Mary Patterson, Karen Moody, Marilyn Davis, and Jane Ann Moody, two nephews, Sgt. First Class Rod Davis and Cecil “Buddy” Davis and two nieces, Paula Patterson and Sherryl Beard.
Ron Graduated from Galesburg High School in 1955. He worked for OMC Gale Products Division in Galesburg and the Galesburg Fire Departments. He then worked in shipping and receiving at Dick Blick for 34 years and retired in 1995. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Galesburg. He was a member and served on the board of directors of the Lake Bracken Country Club. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Lake Bracken Fire Department. He was a member of Little John Conservation Club in Victoria, Illinois. Ron loved golfing and played in several golf leagues at Lake Bracken.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will follow the visitation. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the chapel. Rev. Martha Jean Fitch will officiate. Cremation burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
