The West Central Heat closed out another school year of athletics. In the fall, the Heat football team had another successful season, though they fell short in the first round of the playoffs, finishing (6-4) overall. The West Central volleyball squad also turned in a strong performance this year, ending with a final record of (20-14). The winter sports season saw the boys basketball squad showing significant improvement under the leadership of head coach Doug Dennison. While the girls basketball team experienced a bit of a down year compared to recent seasons, there’s plenty of optimism for the future. During the spring season, the Heat had a boat from the bass fishing team advance to Sectionals. Athletic Director at West Central, Joel Zaiser recaps their season on the water.

Like the boys basketball team, the West Central baseball team continued to show improvement this year, winning four more games than they did in the 2024 season. Meanwhile, the Heat softball team continued their impressive reign, capturing their fourth consecutive Regional Championship. Their postseason run came to an end in the Sectional Semifinal, where they fell to a strong Henry-Senachwine squad. For the full recap of Heat sports with AD Zaiser, go the SPORTS PODCAST section.
