(Monmouth, Ill) Coach Dobry Field was packed and rocking for the first time in the 2025 season, as the Monmouth-Roseville Titans opened up their home schedule with a Three Rivers Conference crossover match up with the Orion Chargers. With a lot to prove on the road, the Chargers made it a back and forth track meet style affair in the first half, however it would be the Titans pulling away in the second half, running all over Orion en route to a 48-28 win.

Right out of the gate Monmouth-Roseville’s lethal rushing trio of Nick Huston, Landon Montroy, and Lars Bergren got rolling, as Huston finished off a steady drive with a 27 yard score for the games first touchdown. Orion’s offense had initial trouble in getting going, however their defense provided a spark by forcing a Titans fumble, leading to a score on the very next play with a 36 yard touchdown from the speedy Owen Voorhees. Heading into the second quarter tied up, the Titans offense rebounded off the turnover with another nice drive capped off by an 18 yard touchdown from Montroy. After that score it would be the special teams of both squads showing out, as Voorhees and Bergren traded kickoff return touchdowns to bring the score to 20-14. With the Chargers breathing down their neck with a potential upset, the Titans would settle into the game and rattle off two more touchdowns before the end of the half, one from Bergren and one from Montroy to send the contest to the break at 35-14 in favor of the Titans.

After the half, Monmouth-Roseville would start out with a mental gaffe, failing to cover-up the opening half kickoff and giving the ball back to Orion. The Chargers would take advantage of the error, taking the ball down the field and cutting their deficit down to two scores. Just like in the first half however, the Titans would quickly atone for their mistake on their next offensive drives with two more touchdowns from Landon Montroy. Defensively, M-R would only allow one more touchdown late in the fourth quarter, and would officially end the game on an interception from freshman Ke’Shawn Crawford bringing the game to its final score of 48-28. In the statbook for the Titans, Landon Montroy led the way in the rushing attack with 242 yards and 4 touchdowns on 24 carries, while Nick Huston added 123 yards and a score on 16 carries. With the win Monmouth-Roseville improves to 2-0 on the season, and will look to stay perfect next week on the road against the Kewanee Boilermakers.
