Western Illinois University is pleased to introduce two new development officers, Cameron Caldwell-Conner and Michael Blaesing, to the University.

Caldwell-Conner will serve as the new associate athletic director for external operations and will work between the athletics office and Foundation to assist in communications, marketing and fundraising for the university athletics department.

“Having Cam on staff is great as his experience in athletic communications as well as marketing and promotions will provide sound leadership in those areas as we move forward,” WIU Athletic Director Paul Bubb said. “I am looking forward to working with Cam as we seek to broaden our donor base as well as look at some strategic priorities we have for our fundraising efforts.”

Caldwell-Conner comes with a strong background, most recently at the University of Southern Indiana, where he served as the director of athletic marketing and fan engagement. Prior to that, he served as the director of gameday operations and events for McKendree University and as the athletic director for Sumner High School in St. Louis, MO.

Blaesing will work with the College of Business and Technology as a development officer, bringing over 20 years of experience in higher education to the role.

“Michael’s expertise in development and donor relations will strengthen our advancement efforts and position the College of Business and Technology for continued growth and impact,” WIU College of Business and Technology Interim Dean Tara Feld said.

At Monmouth College, he significantly expanded athletic fundraising efforts and led legacy giving initiatives while providing strategic prospect research support for college leadership. His proven ability to cultivate donor relationships, develop targeted marketing strategies, and drive revenue growth demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing institutional priorities and student success.
