Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 5th, 2025:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior girls cross country runner, Chloe Kelly. Chloe was the top finishing Titan in either the boys or girls races at the TRAC championship meet at challenging Zearing Park in Princeton. She placed 27th out of 57 total runners. Earlier this season, Chloe was 29th at the inaugural Western Illinois University meet.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Reese Murray. Reese was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance at the Orion Charger Challenge. She hustled her way to a team-high total of 40 digs in United’s four matches for the day. Along with being named to the all-tournament team, Reese garnered her 500th career dig in a match against Rockridge.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Cooper Gibb. Cooper ran for 100 yards on 12 carries in a gutsy 26-18 win over Galva. His 44 yard burst opened the scoring just one minute into the game. Cooper had a great all-around game, as well, returning two kicks for a total of 70 more yards.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Evelin Guel. Evelin filled up the stat sheet in a Western Big Six Conference victory over Alleman. She led the team in digs with 13. Evelin also served two aces and handed out six assists, a stat in which she leads Streaks for the season.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior boys golfer, Alex Foutch. Alex capped off his final golf season with a trip to the IHSA class 1A state finals. He shot an 87 to tie for 17th at the regional tournament at Gibson Woods. Alex was even better at the sectional tournament, where he blistered Valley View Golf Course with a 73 to take 2nd overall.
