Affordability continues to raise concerns among health care organizations, both with costs of the care provided and expenses, explains Solvera Health Chief Executive Officer Patrick Caplis:
“2021 to 2025 expenses in some categories have doubled and revenues have not for the healthcare companies. Labor has increased drastically, but in addition to that, the supplies that we use every day, everything from the gloves we wear to Band-Aids that we buy, everything has just exponentially increased. Some things you can’t buy right now, some things are still on back order. We are pretty lucky because Pekin is receiving a new manufacturer and supplier and so we will have a localized supplier for some of these things. We are seeing in Peoria County, and we are starting to see in Knox County increases in STDs. Some of the drugs that we use to treat those had major manufacturing problems in July of this year and those are on back order.”
Caplis informs medications on back order are anticipated to be back in full stock in late December.
