The Illinois State Board of Education have released their 2025 Summative Designations of the school districts across the state, evaluating schools based on multiple indicators of student success and overall performance. In the United School District, three of the buildings received commendable designations, while one received the highest possible designation of exemplary, informs Superintendent Tom Hawkins:

“School report cards went really well. Of our four, all of our schools are doing well. One received the exemplary rating. That was United North Elementary. We are happy with where the schools are, but we are constantly out there with the message, not only to our staff and our students, but to our families that the state accountability as far as the report card, even though they revamped it a little bit this year, is rising water. As the accountability increases, we need to make sure that we are matching our students’ efforts and our learning to be meet this. All the schools did very well. I am very pleased with the leadership we have in place and the school improvement efforts that are going forth in each of our buildings.”

The United Board of Education also approved the 2025 Tax Levy. United’s next regular board meeting is set for Thursday, January 8th at United Junior/Senior High School.
