Marilon J. Stewart, age 91, of Gladstone, Illinois, passed away Wednesday December, 31, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.  She was born April 9, 1934 in Smithshire, Illinois, the daughter of Casey and Gladys Aten McCollum. She was married to Raymond Annegers in 1954.  They later divorced.  On December 25, 1967, she married Leslie Stewart.  He preceded her in death on February 13, 1995.

Marilon attended the Peasley Country Elementary School near Stronghurst, and graduated from Stronghurst High School.  She worked as a secretary for Lyman Fort Law Office in Stronghurst for a time, and later was vice president and office manager for Wagner Elevator Service in Burlington for several years.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting, and had gifted many quilts to family, friends, and associations. She also enjoyed, traveling and wintering in Florida.

Marilon served on the Steamboat Days board of directors for over 20 years.  She was a member of the BPW of Burlington, the D.A.R, the National Allison Family Reunion, and the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.  She also lived in Fort Mojave, Arizona for a time, where she attended the Fort Mojave United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Anne (Maurice) Smith of Gladstone, Her special friend and companion, with whom she made her home, Bobby Johnson of Carman, IL, two daughters-in-law, Linda Annegers of Gladstone, Sharon Annegers of Burlington, six grandchildren, Amanda (Tony) Bolte, Adam (Melanie) Annegers, Alicia (Chad) Anderson, Whitney Finley, Richard (Kelsey) Annegers, Leon Annegers Jr, two step grandsons, Seth and Zach Ream, nine great grandchildren, (with one on the way), one great great grandchild, one brother, Gail McCollum of Wapello, IA, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, three sons, Mason Stewart, Leon Annegers, and Joe Annegers, one daughter in infancy, Nancy Annegers, and one brother, Gary McCollum.

The funeral service for Marilon will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2026 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Pastor Dean Graber officiating.  Burial will follow in Carman Cemetery, Carman, IL.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established for Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.  Please visit Marilon’s obituary at banksandbeals.com to leave a condolence.
