Knox County Clerk & Recorder Scott Erickson announced today that the Tax Extension portion of the Tax Billing cycle has been completed by his office and has rolled the information to the County Treasurer’s office for completion of the tax bills printing and mailing. The Extension process is the second of three steps of the tax
billing process. The third step is for the Treasurer to print and mail the tax bills to property owners. “There has been a lot of rumblings about the amount of time that it takes to process the extension step. Let me say that my office takes pride in the fact that we are very cautious about our processes. An error in calculation could cause tax
bills to be corrected and sent out again.” Stated Scott Erickson, Knox County Clerk & Recorder. “We want to take extra caution during these calculations to make sure that the numbers balance properly. Rushing this process along could have bad results and cost taxpayers more money. I want to give a big shout out to Melanie, my Tax
Extension Officer, for her hard work all year long on the tax extension process. The whole office team helps in a variety of ways to assure a quality result from the tax extension each year. I am proud of them all.” stated Erickson.

The County Treasurer’s office is responsible for establishing the payment due dates and will release that information as it is available.
