May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer is reminding motorists to drive alert:

“You have to be defensive driving at all times; you have to know what is going on around you and seeing motorcycles is part of that. You have to be aware they are out there, look in your blind spots, take that extra second before going through an intersection, pay attention to the signage that is there, whether it is a yield sign, stop sign, traffic signal, or if it an open intersection. Take that extra look before you get into that intersection.”

Chief Switzer also emphasized the importance of not blowing mowed grass into the roadways as the clippings can cause slick and hazardous conditions.
