Monmouth Shopko to Remain Open

Shopko in Monmouth will remain open. Shopko announced on Wednesday the closure of the store in Burlington, Iowa along with 37 other stores nationwide, but the Monnmouth Shopko will not be closing. The Burlingon location is expected to close on April 15th. However, the company stated the optical centers in Burlington would remain open and would be relocated. The closures are part of the company’s financial restructuring plan under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.The company stated it has obtained up to $480M debtor-in-possession financing from certain of its prepetition secured lenders, led by Wells Fargo, N.A. as administrative agent, to help fund and protect its operations during the Chapter 11 process. The only Shopko stores in Illinois that will close are the stores in Dwight and Mount Carmel.
